Despite having suits made in several stores, I never received the “old-fashioned” professional approach that my grandparents talked about. I first heard about Benjamin from my brother. He made a wedding coat and a custom linen shirt for him. Later, I saw a beautiful suit on one of my banker friends, which also turned out to be from the Gangel workshop. When I went to him, it was immediately decided that I would have a suit made for myself. Beautiful fabric selection, meticulous work, which is not more expensive than an average off-the-rack piece… and, of course, a very likable person! The end result was just what I wanted: elegant, sporty, and unique.
I was a groom before my wedding. For this occasion, I wanted to have a special, bespoke suit made that was completely different from what I had worn before. I was even willing to go to Budapest, thinking that with a larger selection, I would find a tailor more easily who could make the perfect suit for me. I was wrong. I didn’t succeed. Time was ticking away. I even imagined that if I found someone a few weeks before the wedding, they wouldn’t take on the job due to the tight deadline.
My partner and I discovered Benjamin completely by chance. We were delighted and went to see him as soon as we could. At first, he made the impression of a friendly young man who loves his work and considers it his calling, and who knows what he’s doing, and it showed. Then it turned out that this wasn’t just a first impression; Benjamin is indeed a rare gem who enjoys what he does and is more than good at it.
As for the suit, he naturally agreed to make the desired piece for me. This, of course, involved the usual measurements, fabric selection, fittings, button color, lining color, etc. Since my measurements were given, and I had found someone who accepted them, the most important thing was the fabric for the suit. Urgently, so the young bride wouldn’t change her mind too soon.
Fortunately, Benjamin has a lot of fabric samples. But I wanted a special Irish wool fabric, which was known in few places, let alone available. Benjamin told me that the chosen fabric would be available the following week, and soon after, I could go for the first fitting. I was pleased that everything was working out. – I should note that Benjamin did not mark up the price of the suit fabric. I paid the material cost based on the invoice issued to him. This surprised me and made me feel good. – After that, only a few fittings were left. He managed to complete my suit on time, with excellent quality, paying attention to me.
What I received – beyond Benjamin always being available, attentive, focused on me when I was with him, working precisely and on time – was a superbly tailored, comfortable, unique, and special groom’s suit, which I will proudly show to my future children, as I am sincerely satisfied with both the making process and the time spent in it.

During the development of the educational infrastructure of the Historical Department of the Janus Pannonius Museum, we decided to commission the creation of 33 sets of turn-of-the-century (19th-20th century) replica costumes. As we started planning the big day and the groom’s outfit came up, I knew I didn’t want either a tailcoat or a traditional wedding or off-the-rack suit. I wanted a ‘checkered suit’ that I could wear later on, and my future wife liked the idea, so we visited a few specialty stores. The first time – amidst the astonishing variety – we chose the desired checkered fabric from the fabric samples, and then Benjamin took my measurements, and we discussed the details of the shirt, jacket, and trousers to be made, from the tailoring to the number of buttons and pockets to sketching the back of the jacket.
The second time, I could already try on the upper part of the jacket, which only vaguely resembled a jacket, and a roughly finished pair of trousers. At this point, the final adjustments were marked on the workpieces, and on the third, and final meeting, Benjamin awaited us with the finished suit, the accompanying shirt, and the complimentary bow tie.
Both my wife and I were very pleased with the finished pieces, and they were also very popular with family and friends, and I still enjoy wearing them whenever I get the chance.
